A major milestone for one of North Texas's largest master-planned communities: Goodland Parkway is now open in south Grand Prairie, providing the primary roadway connection into Goodland — Provident's 10,000+ home community spanning Grand Prairie, Ellis County, and Johnson County.
Southland Consulting Engineers is proud to be part of the project team delivering this development.
Why Goodland matters for the region
Goodland is positioned equidistant between Dallas and Fort Worth, designed from the start as a "city within a city." Provident's long-term vision for the project includes:
- 10,000+ residential homes at full build-out — one of the largest master-planned communities in North Texas
- Future retail, healthcare, and hospitality within the community
- K–12 schools and sports complexes
- Technology and meaningful employment opportunities — reducing the commute burden on residents
- Special-district financing structure to fund the supporting infrastructure
The opening of Goodland Parkway is the first major piece of public infrastructure delivering on that vision — establishing the spine that future phases connect into.

Civil engineering in a master-planned community
Master-planned communities of this scale require coordinated civil engineering, hydrology, and construction services across multiple phases over many years. Roadway alignment decisions made today affect drainage, utility routing, lot yield, and traffic patterns a decade out. Getting the first parkway right — geometry, intersections, drainage, utility tie-ins — is what makes the later phases buildable.
Southland's team works closely with the developer, agencies, and construction partners to deliver site civil work that holds up over the life of a project like this.
What's next
Goodland is just getting started. Future phases will continue rolling out homes, infrastructure, and the supporting community amenities that turn raw acreage into a place where people actually want to live and work.
Congratulations to Provident and the entire project team. We're glad to be part of building something here that will serve the DFW region for generations.
