At Southland, we prioritize giving back to the community — which is why we're proud to be part of the New Horizons Ranch and Center, Inc. back-to-school drive this year.

School supplies organized on the Southland conference table — markers, glue sticks, notebooks, pencils, and folders ready for distribution

What we contributed

The Southland team purchased:

  • 40+ backpacks
  • Countless markers, pencils, and crayons
  • Notebooks, folders, composition books, and construction paper
  • Glue sticks, scissors, and the rest of the back-to-school checklist

Backpacks lined up alongside notebooks, crayons, and folders — ready to ship to New Horizons in Abilene

These supplies have been shipped off to New Horizons in Abilene to be distributed to students in their program in preparation for the upcoming school year.

About New Horizons

New Horizons Ranch and Center, Inc. provides residential treatment, foster care, and family services for children and youth across Texas. Their back-to-school drive helps ensure every student in their program starts the year with the supplies they need to succeed.

Why this matters

Civil engineering is fundamentally about building places where communities thrive. The buildings, subdivisions, and infrastructure we design are only meaningful because of the people who live, learn, and work in them. Supporting the kids in our community is part of the same work — just at a different scale.

We're proud to support New Horizons and the families they serve. Here's to a great school year.
